The T701H adds Modbus TCP/IP connectivity to the proven reliability and performance of our high purity zero air system. This allows remote monitoring of key instrument functions including dewpoint status, scrubber temperature, box temperature and output pressure. Additionally, this digital access provides the ability to remotely disable the internal pump, allowing longer service intervals and less power consumption. The user can also remotely start instrument warm-up prior to arrival at the site.

The T701H is a fully self-contained source of high purity zero air for dilution calibrators. It is ideal for use with highly sensitive analyzers in ambient background and trace level applications. The T701H includes a dewpoint sensor, an oil and diaphragm-free pump, scrubbers to remove SO2, NO, NO2, O3, H2S and NH3, plus high performance scrubbers to remove CO and Hydrocarbons.

The regenerative, heatless dryer removes water and produces output with a dew point less than -40ºC (up to 30 SLPM flow rate). The system’s pressure, temperature, and dewpoint values are all continuously monitored, which allows a microcontroller to adjust the pump cycling frequency, valve timing, and heater power for optimal performance

Features

JES Tunnel Safety’s Smart/AQM is an IoT-enabled gas sensor, specifically designed for Tunnel applications. Mounted in-situ or extractive, it measures visibility, particles and emissions to EC guideline 2004/54/EC (Minimum safety requirements for tunnels in the trans-European road network), and the more detailed requirements of Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Features
  • Installation in-situ
  • Stainless steel housing 1.4404 (AISI 316L)
  • IP rating IP69K
  • Connection to tunnel control system by:
    • MODBUS RTU (RS-485)
    • MODBUS/TCP (Ethernet)
    • Analogue and relay outputs
    • Web service (Ethernet)

  • in-situ – directly in the tunnel’s driving area
  • extractive – in a niche, cross-cut, etc.
  • Terminal box – with 24 VDC power supply for connection of supply and signal cables
  • System cable with quick connectors between sensor and terminal box for easy exchange
  • Optional smart/HUB with touch display
Operation

Visibility and gas monitoring during normal operation is used to control the tunnel ventilation at normal operation. The need (and level of power required) for artificial ventilation by jet fans depends on the measured visibility and gas concentration.
Visibility is expressed by the extinction coefficient, which describes the light attenuation caused by particles in the air.
The sensor extracts air from the tunnel by an integrated fan and feeds it into the measuring cell which detects the intensity of light scattered by this sample, sets it into relation with the light passing through and calculates the extinction coefficient.
Optional electrochemical gas sensor cells induce currents proportional to the prevailing gas concentration. With these currents and the measured temperature, the gas sensor modules calculate the gas concentrations.

Advantages
  • Specifically designed for application in tunnels
  • Single sensor instead of transmitter/receiver pair requiring exact alignment
  • Effective fog elimination by optional heater
  • Easy recalibration by calibration plug
  • Internal purge air system keeps optics clean and prevents long-term drift
  • Robust stainless steel housing for protection against corrosion and water jets
  • Permanent condition monitoring
  • Remote maintenance
  • Low maintenance requirements, stable, accurate
  • Pre-calibrated gas sensor modules for easy exchange
  • Flexible integration into tunnel control system
  • Ethernet port
  • Mounting height in accordance with Austrian RVS
  • Menu guided recalibration of gas sensor modules
  • Smart IoT solution from sensor over hub to asset management software

System Set-up

  • Photometer in camera housing (Luminance camera) mounted on the tunnel wall or a pole in front of the tunnel portal
  • Power supply (230 or 115 VAC)
  • Signal outputs connected to lighting control system or tunnel control system

Operation

The requirements for tunnel lighting are determined by the nature of the human eye. How well the eye recognises vehicles and other obstacles in a tunnel depends on the lighting and visibility as well as the reflection characteristics of the road surface and the tunnel walls. Tunnel lighting needs to be adapted to these environmental conditions.

The tunnel lighting must be controlled so that users, both during the day and by night, can approach, pass through and exit the tunnel without changing direction or speed with a degree of safety equal to that on the approach road. Especially the lighting of a tunnel entrance should be adequate to avoid the “black hole effect” when a driver enters the tunnel.

Luminance is the measure representing what a human being perceives as brightness and as such is the main control variable for the tunnel lighting.

The luminance photometer comes with a zoom lens that is focused to measure the relevant area. Light from this area through the lens is directed to the photo element detecting its intensity. The integrated evaluation unit then calculates the luminance and provides it through the analogue output(s).

Advantages

  • Specifically designed for tunnel applications
  • Customisable measuring ranges
  • Same luminance meter for all measuring ranges and applications
  • No moving parts
  • Sensor is easy to remove out of housing withoot any tools
  • Housing resistant against corrosion, UV, oil and acid
  • Extremely low maintenance requirements.
